Jack Preston Releases New Album, "End Of The Future."

The new voice of the 'Alternative South' is MC/producer/multi-instrumentalist Jack Preston. The ATLien's first full-length LP in almost five years, "End of The Future," is out today.

Produced entirely by Bay Area beatsmith Jon Bom, the album serves as the full-length follow-up to Preston and Bom's collaborative 2010 EP, The Sonikah Project.

With assistance from extended musical family from both coasts including The Dojo CollectiveSa-RocYamin SemaliblctxtMICAHteer, and Alex Lee of LeViceEOTF easily pushes boundaries and seamlessly blends electronic, jazz, and hip hop with some live instrumentation.

Exhibiting an intensified sense of stylistic command and musical growth, End Of The Future's sound is vibrant and dynamic. Each song threads together a narrative of self-reflection and exploration over Bom’s spacey synths, suffused with hints of old West Coast G-Funk and southern charm that channels the spirit of predecessors like the Dungeon Family and UGK.  With rightful comparisons to Oddisee and both members of Outkast, Preston wields both rhyme and melody as he navigates moments of his journey with broad, effortless pivots in delivery.

Preston doesn't stray too far from his roots, but moments suggest that his relationship with Atlanta is one of navigating the expansion of its culture on a global scale while preserving the historical context that helped mold him into the artist he is today. Thus, EOTF is a culminating nod to the past, a celebration of the present, and a looking glass into the future; a moment in which a vision is manifested and an idea fully blossoms into a tangible reality.

Léla Sophia Debuts New Single, "Ordinary High" On First Look Fridays Feature Via Okayplayer

With recent comparisons to Lianne La Havas, Emily King, and Coco of Quadron, the young, undeniably gifted Neo-Soul/Jazz upstart Léla Sophia is well on her way. After flooring us with the mellow love song "NeoB," Léla follows up with the ethereal "Ordinary High." Her silky smooth vocals coupled with production by emerging Jazz artist OlMac Dah make for a sprawling, soulful Jazz number that takes listeners soaring.

Ordinary High is a song for anyone who’s ever felt stuck in their everyday lives. I always find myself wanting to be better and accomplish more quicker, but I’m learning to appreciate life as it comes, and love the all the moments in-between, that’s where real growth happens.

The Wild Magazine Premieres Georgia Anne Muldrow's Fiery New Music Video For 'Arkansas'

I remember crusin’ down to Arkansas / hearing stories that explain exactly why I spar this hard / black militia rapper a full-time job..
— Georgia Anne Muldrow

We've witnessed flashes of brilliance in Georgia Anne Muldrow's skills as an emcee throughout her career. The verbally defiant "Arkansas" from her debut rap album, 'A Thoughtiverse Unmarred,' silences any remaining doubters of the singer/songwriter/producer's ability to hold her own among the most elite rappers.

The song's gritty, Jay Brown-directed video sees monochrome flashes of Muldrow as she flows of inner-struggles and outward battles on the path to actualization over the funky production of Chris Keys.

Thank you to our friends at The Wild Magazine for the world premiere of 'Arkansas'

ATL Newcomer Jack Preston Flexes His Skills In New Video For 'Rebirth'

The new voice of the 'Alternative South,' that is ATL newcomer Jack Preston, flexes his mic skills with his double time flow on his new single, "Rebirth." The song's black and white visuals, directed by William Feagins Jr., provides the perfect juxtaposition between vintage southern hip hop and Preston's funky new aesthetic.

While Preston upholds his rightful comparisons to a unique mix between both members of Outkast on the mic, producer Jon Bom's gospel organs channel classic UGK and blend with futuristic synths that emboldens a potential new renaissance in southern hip hop.

Preston and Bom are set to release "End Of The Future," the full-length follow-up to The Sonikah Project, July 14.

Jack Preston Joins Sa-Roc, BLCTXT, And Yamin Semeli For Debut Single From Upcoming Album, "End of The Future"

While the extraordinarily talented MC/producer/multi-instrumentalist Jack Preston has kept his stage show sharp during his time off from recording, the ATLien is set to release "End Of The Future," his first full-length LP in almost five years, July 14. Today brings us the first official single from the project, 'Hit Em.' ATL compatriots Sa-Roc, BLCTXT, and Yamin Semeli join Preston for this hard-hitting jazzy track, produced by Jon Bom.

"During the production of Hit 'Em, Jon Bom and I flowed with the classic vibe that organically revealed itself through the sample chopping and drum programming process. We decided not to resist the natural direction that it was headed in, and made it a type of ode to the 93-97 Hip-Hop era. We gave stylistic nods to the likes of Premeire and Dilla, Biggie and Snoop, but kept it fresh by inviting some of our favorite artists from the Atlanta Hip-Hop scene...including verses from blctxt and Sa-Roc, scratches from Yamin Semali, and Horns by Born on the Horn. Though these artists are my contemporaries and not my official crew, this is a crew track in the most traditional sense. We aren't talking about anything profound on this one, we're just talking shit. You know…just having fun." ~ Jack

"End of The Future" finds Preston and Bom collaborating for an entire project and will serve as the full-length follow-up to their 2010 EP, The Sonikah Project.

Rapper Big Pooh Releases Official Music Video For "Stop" Via HipHopDX

Rapper Big Pooh returns with a new video for the single, "Stop," from his poignant Words Paint Pictures EP produced entirely by Apollo Brown. Pooh has dedicated the project to illustrating the complicated issue of race in America.

The new video tackles some of the more subtle and nuanced issues faced by Americans. So much is said through the media and so many troubling stories are passed down that being Black in America can mean being constantly on the defensive.

The video begins with Rapper Big Pooh and crew driving, being followed by the police. Pooh gets pulled over, expecting the worst. Flashes of historic racial injustice flash in his head, now expecting to be treated differently because of the color of his skin. Surprisingly to him, he is only given a warning, leaving him to consider the double-edged sword of awareness.

Released March 24th, "Words Paint Pictures" is Pooh's debut project via powerhouse indie label, Mello Music Group.

Thank you to our friends at HipHopDX for the world premiere!
