Yellow Shoots Shares New Ambient Single 'Stormy Weather' Via The FADER

Reconciliation with loss can be tumultuous process. Philly-bred singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Yellow Shoots uses his infectious melodies and seamless fusion of progressive rock, R&B, and ambient electronic to articulate this process in his brand new single "Stormy Weather."

For someone whose name spawned from their observation of sound in the color yellow (a condition known as synesthesia), Yellow Shoots interjects ample brush strokes of somber misty grays and blues in "Stormy Weather."

Stormy Weather’ is about a person losing a relationship or separating ties with someone. It talks about how one doesn’t actually feel the depths or significance at the time they lose a relationship. I tried to demonstrate that I often get hit with that wave of “loss” at an unexpected time, which is often triggered by an unexpected event. Life is odd and awkward for a bit and all of a sudden you get smacked in the face with everything that’s missing, everything you had before.

Isa Shares New Heartfelt Single "Take It Slow" On SoulBounce

Leave it to the great singers and songwriters of our day to express heartache, life transitions, and growth in the most poignant fashion. Classically trained, Bronx-born and bred singer/songwriter Isa takes a page from two of her biggest musical inspirations Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston in her brand new, beautifully heartfelt ballad "Take It Slow."

Showcasing Isa's overpowering vocal ability, the song serves as the lead single for her forthcoming sophomore EP Mirrors Volume 1

Take it Slow’ was a song that I literally wrote and arranged within the matter of an hour. I was going through a separation from someone I was truly in love with, and the day I wrote ‘Take it Slow’ was the first day I had some time off to be home with myself to digest the situation and being left for someone else. There is no resolution by the end of [the song]. It’s literally a song about being still. There is no right or wrong move, there’s nothing really to do but let life flow naturally no matter how painful it may feel to not have a solid ‘yes’ or ‘no’ at the time.

RAHBI Shares New Stop-Motion Music Video For "Blush" Via Earmilk

Merging the styles of Morris Day and the Time, Prince, Grace Jones, Lady Gaga, and Rick James, RAHBI is an artist that defies convention. His extravagant, over-the-top showmanship, and idiosyncratic presentation have earned him the respect and admiration of his hometown of Atlanta, as well as superstars such as Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu.

His latest EP 'Golden Child: Trimester 3...'HELLO WORLD' is, quite fittingly, all about embracing one's unique identity and living with purpose. The EP's lead single, "Blush," features Shanell (of Young Money) and is a symbol of everyone's own inner-greatness. Inspired by Dr. Sharrell Luckett's studies in theater adn performance as it relates to identity and self-image, the eye-catching, stop-motion video for "Blush" is a dramatized re-imagining of RAHBI's origin story, starring Nurse Daisy (Shanell) and The 'Golden Child' (RAHBI).

Blush’ tells a magical and exciting story of The GoldenChild’s birth. Knowing he’s been sent to inspire masses, Nurse Daisy views it as her duty to help baby RAHBI escape from the hospital and immediately start living his purpose. He’s the cutest thing she’s ever seen and can’t help but blush during the entire escapade.

Skateboarding among African-Americans has only in recent years become socially acceptable, popularized by the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell Williams

"The BlackBoard" documentary film aims to challenge what it means to be black in America by examining the issue of acceptance within the black community through the lens of the age-old culture of skateboarding.

Produced and directed by attorney/indie filmmaker (and former skater, B-boy, and emcee/producer) Marquis Bradshaw, the film stars prominent black pro skaters Jabari Pendleton, Karl Watson, and Ron Allen (one of the first black pro skaters and one of the first skaters to ever receive a major corporate sponsorship).

I directed the blackboard in a manner to allow the skaters tell their own story without any filter but their own; I purposefully shied away from using a narrator or leading the skaters into eliciting certain answers to fit a specific agenda. I wanted the film to be as objective as humanly possible.
— Marquis Bradshaw

"The BlackBoard" is Bradshaw's debut film under his Another Kind of Son Rises Entertainment imprint and is tentatively set for a Spring 2016 release.

Knafo is an extraordinary one-man creative house. The Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter takes charge of every aspect of his creative output. He now introduces the world to his arsenal of visual effects and film editing skills in his brand new short film "Change To Last." The rich, nearly fifteen minute long film is the visual companion to his album of the same name, which was released late last year via Pronto Musique.

A story of heartache and personal growth, there is something for everyone to relate to in "Change To Last."

The concept of the film is based on the theme of the album. A very real and intimate story, since the album was written over a difficult two year period in my life. A lot of different emotions, a lot of personal growth, all found in the lyrics and different moods on the album. This became the basis for the idea I wanted to explore in the film. The goal was to make it feel real, and have people connect with the story emotionall.

MORE ABOUT THE ALBUM:

Midnight Run is a journey through the murky-water trenches of southeast Michigan, otherwise known as 'Trippyville,' confronting the vices that the night has to offer. The album is laved with live instrumentation over a vibey production, taking listeners on a late night excursion through the inner city. Obie Iyoha may be a new name to some, but his vivid stories immerse you in his world and make you feel like it's your own.

Across the world, people put on the mask to reveal their faces. We are The Black Opera.
